Corporate Social Responsibility Program: Team Luz visits Bahay Tuluyan

Axiem Corporation is a strong advocate of giving back to the community and, as such, schedules a monthly visit to a children’s shelter in Victoria, Laguna; Philippines called Bahay Tuluyan (BT).
Bahay Tuluyan is a non-governmental organization (NGO) that provides a variety of programs and services aimed at preventing and responding to the abuse and exploitation of children in the Philippines.
Luz Sarmiento (TL Luz) and her team, together with Daryl Gaudiel of the Vixen Team and Zia Eria and Abby Gonzales from the HR Team volunteered their time to deliver preloved shoes and clothes and essential toiletries for the children living at BT.
Axiem Corporation’s team of volunteers were briefed by the Bahay Tuluyan volunteers on the history of Bahay Tuluyan and their Mission, Vision, and Values. Basic house rules were reiterated, including general behavioral guidelines to adhere to while within the shelter’s premises.
The volunteers prepared fun-filled activities and games for the kids to enjoy, including a colorful piñata and various relay games designed to promote teamwork. At lunchtime, the team of volunteers and children ate as a family and spent time chatting and laughing together. The afternoon proceeded with story time. Our volunteers read the story of the three little pigs with re-enactment that the children loved and made the storytelling more exciting.
The kids ate their snacks while the volunteers did a clean-up after which the kids accompanied their visitors on a tour around the grounds; from the offices to gardens where they plant their crops and animal pens where they keep their poultry safe. The children also proudly showed off their houses where they live and sleep.
Every visit to Bahay Tuluyan serves to remind us of our purpose to share and spread love to everyone – kids and kids at heart alike. We are extremely grateful and privileged that we have employees who share the same ideologies as the company. Thank you to the volunteers who joined the fun this month, and we look forward to facilitating the next visit that will bring joy to the children’s lives.
